communityCOMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

The NARI Greater of Sacramento Chapter has been involved in the community almost since its inception in 1981.  Community involvement has ranged from rehabilitating houses with Rebuilding Together, building bunk beds for Camp Okizu (children battling cancer), designing, building and providing materials for three Living Skills kitchens for The Sacramento Society for the Blind to our annual toy and gift drive that supports many local charities.

NARI of Greater Sacramento is proud to announce our new program NARI HELPING HEROES.  As with many people in the U.S., our local chapter has been touched by veterans who have returned home from war with life changing injuries.  In our effort to assist these hero’s, NARI of Greater Sacramento in partnership with Rebuilding Together Sacramento has created a program to help make their transition home much easier.

Local NARI members will be volunteering time and materials to do minor home modifications for veterans needing assistance getting around in their homes.  As 2011 is the inaugural year, the plans are to start with some of the basics: grab bars, ADA toilets or ramps.  These modifications will allow the veteran to live more comfortably at home.  As this program evolves so will the services and support we can provide.  It is the Chapter’s hope that this program can serve as a model for other NARI chapters around the country.

If you are or may know a veteran who may need these services please contact; Rebuilding Together Sacramento, PO BOX  255584, Sacramento, CA 95825 Attn: NARI Helping Heroes.
